Rereading ‘Mall Curiosities‘ as I repost this, and I still really like that mini story! Characters are confronting the weird in their own ways, and they all start to understand each other better in their own way, via a very effective and fun magical solution. And while Katie was a bit aggressive at first, it makes a bit of sense since Jason is a kind of weird that she doesn’t get. And that kind of aggression can lead to some solid trash-ships. Apologies!
